Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarships for his family as well as service to his community. First of all Selmon was born by Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon. They lived on the farm close to Eufala within Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. In football, he played with his three brothers from Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the USA. In his three years as a starter Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received his bachelor's diploma in education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteering for ten hours per week during his time at college. After college he settled in Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers were all-pro three times and started his business career. He was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of Ten of America's top young males. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as player, commanded his team throughout 1975. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as the Associate Director of Sports. The College Football Hall of Fame was named for him as a member in the year 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
